Thimble: use the lower (N·m) number.

Main-scale reading + thimble contribution = total torque
N·m
N·m
The lower-row thimble numbers are already in N·m, so the multiplier is ×1: a marking of 4.07 adds 4.07 N·m.

It only adds what you type. It never reads the wrench for you.

Wrench Practice · Newton-meters
Same wrench, other side
This target is in N·m, and the targets now alternate between ft-lb and N·m. The N·m main scale is printed on the back of the barrel. On the thimble, the upper row of numbers is ft-lb and the lower row is N·m. Use the lower row.
The setting does not change when the wrench turns over. Only the scale you read changes.

LEVEL 2
Torque the Wheel
Three rounds, each harder than the last. In every round, set the wrench to a new target, then tighten each lug nut once in the right order.
1 · Five lugs2 · Six lugs3 · Eight lugs
Five lugs use a star pattern. Six and eight lugs use opposite pairs in a crisscross order. Each new pattern is demonstrated first. The timer is paused during demos.
Real vehicle torque specs and tightening procedures must follow the manufacturer's instructions.
